I've been a professional Sound Recordist for over 20 years and have worked on many shows and genres. Over the years I have found that what really goes hand in hand with being a successful Sound Recordist is more about the rapport with a Presenter or an Actor and how that positiveness can benefit and translate on to the screen. My ability to listen to Directors and problem solve and communicate with all departments and make contributors feel less nervous are all, I think, essential in being a successful Sound Recordist. The technical side of recording sound is paramount but the skills needed now are far more than that. Filming days whether studio or location or on set need someone who can focus keep momentum and have an upbeat mindset with everyone and I hope as a Sound Recordist I bring this to the fore
